{"id":946,"date":"2021-04-21T14:53:47","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T05:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/?page_id=946"},"modified":"2021-08-25T16:03:12","modified_gmt":"2021-08-25T07:03:12","slug":"literature","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/?page_id=946&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Documents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Shinkage Ry\u016b Kiriai Kuden-sho no Koto<\/strong><br>Sekish\u016bsai gathered the oral teachings of Kamiizumi Ise-no-kami, systematized them, and set them down in the &#8220;Shinkage Ry\u016b Kiriai Kuden-sho no Koto&#8221;. He gave this text to his grandchild, Yagy\u016b Hy\u014dgonosuke Toshitoshi, in 1603.<br>This text concretely outlines Kamiizumi Ise-no-kami\u2019s approach to heih\u014d, the martial arts, and the art of swordsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sekish\u016bsai was given an inka, a certificate of mastery, in April 1565 and was named the legitimate second headmaster. In May of 1566, he was then given the four scrolls of the Kagemokuroku: Enpi, Sangaku, Kuka, and Nanatachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone margin-0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/07.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/07-300x45.jpg\" alt=\" \u300e\u6ca1\u6ecb\u5473\u624b\u6bb5\u53e3\u4f1d\u66f8\u300f\" class=\"wp-image-98\"\/><\/a><figcaption>&#8220;Motsujimi Shudan Kuden-sho&#8221; by Yagy\u016b Munetoshi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Motsujimi Shudan Kuden-sho<\/strong><br>In August of 1604, when he finished writing the Motsujimi Shudan Kuden-sho (A Mind Without Strife or Selfishness), Sekish\u016bsai appointed Toshitoshi as his successor. Sekish\u016bsai added three more important items to the Motsujimi Shudan Kuden-sho before Toshitoshi inherited the position in June 1605 and became the third headmaster. At that time, Sekish\u016bsai gave the Motujimi Shudan Kuden-sho to Toshitoshi along with two other scrolls: the Shinkage Ry\u016b Heih\u014d Mokuroku no Koto, and the Shinkage Ry\u016b Kiriai Kuden-sho no Koto. Sekish\u016bsai was 77 and Toshitoshi was 28 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone margin-0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/001t02.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/001t02-259x300.jpg\" alt=\"\u67f3\u751f\u5175\u5eab\u52a9\u5229\u53b3\" class=\"wp-image-59\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Founder of Owari Yagy\u016b, Yagy\u016b Hy\u014dgonosuke Toshitoshi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shij\u016b Fuja-sho<\/strong><br>Owari Gondainagon Tokugawa Yoshinao, the first head of the Owari Tokugawa domain, became the fourth headmaster of Shinkage Ry\u016b in 1620. At that time, the third headmaster, Yagy\u016b Hy\u014dgonosuke Toshitoshi, presented him with the Shij\u016b Fuja-sho along with the other catalogues of techniques and teachings.<br>In the Shij\u016b Fuja-sho, Toshitoshi describes heih\u014d for armored combat. This heih\u014d is characterized by low stances, and it was this style that the founder of Shinkage Ry\u016b, Kamiizumi Ise-no-kami, taught to Sekish\u016bsai. In this revolutionary text, Toshitoshi also introduces principles he devised for fighting without armor,as befitting the new era after the Genna Armistice.<br>While it could be said that the transition from the low stances of armored combat to the erect and unencumbered postures of combat in everyday clothing was inevitable, this was certainly a great achievement for Toshitoshi in the history of Japanese swordsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone margin-0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/001r02.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/demo.arches.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/001r02.jpg\" alt=\"\u67f3\u751f\u9023\u4e5f\u658e\u53b3\u5305\" class=\"wp-image-99\"\/><\/a><figcaption>The 5th headmaster, the 5th family head, Yagy\u016b Renya Toshikane<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shinkage Ry\u016b Heih\u014d Mokuroku (Renya kuden-sho)<\/strong><br>The Shinkage Ry\u016b Heih\u014d Mokuroku is a collection of teachings thought to have been written by the fifth headmaster, Yagy\u016b Renya Toshikane, when he was 12 or 13 years old. He briefly summarizes the concepts taught by the founder of the school, Kamiizumi Ise-no-kami, and the second headmaster, Yagy\u016b Sekish\u016bsai, and provides comments on each item in the four scrolls. He discusses the technique and theory of each in terms of the \u201cold\u201d theory of the first and second headmasters and in terms of the \u201ccurrent\u201d theory of his father, Toshitoshi. Renya sealed this text and never showed it to other people. He then passed it down to his nephew, the eighth headmaster, after writing on the cover that anyone who broke the seal, would face punishment by Marishiten, a Buddhist deity.
